How to use it

Don't sit still for this one: stand up and do the moves as you read or sing. It's great for burning off energy before a calm activity, or for children who find sitting to listen hard.

What it helps with

Comprehension and discussion questions

Pick two or three, not all of them. “I don’t know” is a fine answer, and you can always come back to it another day.

  1. “Which animals did you meet?”
  2. “How did each animal move?”
  3. “Which move was hardest?”
  4. “Which animal would you like to be?”
  5. “How do you feel after dancing?”
  6. “Can you make up a new animal move?”

5-minute activities to try together

Animal dance

Put on music and take turns calling out an animal. Everyone moves like that animal until the music stops.

Freeze!

Dance like the animals, then freeze when someone calls “boogie stop!”. Practising stopping is a great self-control game.
