We Move Together: questions to ask and activities to try

How to use it

Written by disabled authors, with wheelchairs and mobility aids shown as ordinary, not tragic. Ask what could change so everyone can join in: the question is about the world, not about the children.

What it helps with

Comprehension and discussion questions

Pick two or three, not all of them. “I don’t know” is a fine answer, and you can always come back to it another day.

  1. “What could we change so everyone can join in?”
  2. “What got in the way for some of the children?”
  3. “How did the friends help each other?”
  4. “Where have you seen a ramp, a lift or a wide door?”
  5. “What makes a place easy for everyone to use?”
  6. “How do you like to move: fast, slow, rolling, dancing?”

5-minute activities to try together

Spot one change

Look around your street or school and spot one change that would help everyone join in.

Ways to move

Put on music and take turns choosing a way to move: rolling, sliding, waving arms, stepping slowly. Everyone joins in their own way.
