How to use it

Count the dinosaurs and machines on each page and make the digger noises together. Ask what they're digging before you reach the end.

What it helps with

Comprehension and discussion questions

Pick two or three, not all of them. “I don’t know” is a fine answer, and you can always come back to it another day.

  1. “How many dinosaurs were digging?”
  2. “What machines did they use?”
  3. “What do you think they were making?”
  4. “What happened at the end?”
  5. “Which dinosaur would you like to be?”
  6. “What would you dig a big hole for?”

5-minute activities to try together

Dino dig

Bury toy dinosaurs in a sandpit or tray and dig them up, counting as you go.

Team job

Choose a small job, like tidying a corner, and do it together like the dinosaurs. Count how many things you put away.
